New from Silver Cross is the Car Safety collection, a range of car seats with the focus largely on what matters most – safety. The four new designs take parents through the full lifetime of car seats needs consisting of the Dream, Motion, Balance and Discover.
The Dream is a Group 0 rear-facing seat suitable from birth up to 13kg (approx. 9-12 months). The chair can be used with a standard seat belt fitting or with the Dream ISOFIX base that can be purchased separately. The base is i-Size approved and exceeds the latest government safety standards.
As always, fitting a car seat can be the most complex yet important part of the process, and with the introduction of this collection comes a new app, Car Safety Made Simple, that can be downloaded to your phone to support you in these steps. By scanning in the QR code, it presents a simple step-by-step video guide to support you through the set up of the chair.
While you can always hunt down videos on YouTube, we found the app really bought it to life through the brands’ experts without having to scroll through a static manual. Together with the light indicators on the chair and base, this undoubtedly encouraged a confidence in knowing that it was fitted correctly and dare I say it, makes it almost foolproof!
The seat features a five-point harness and a toughened four-layer side impact protection to keep babies safe should a collision occur.
Safety aside, the chair itself is very stylish. It lauds plush, chunky fabrics and newborns will feel super snug and comforted within the depth of the seat. Made of a soft, natural bamboo fabric, it is very breathable and provides thermo-regulating properties that cleverly draw moisture away from your baby to ensure they stay warm and dry and at a comfortable temperature. The hypoallergenic fabric covers can also be removed and are machine washable, a handy feature for any leaks or spills mid journey.
A removable sun canopy provides adequate additional UV protection and doubles up as a dark covering that aids undisturbed napping.
Babies grow and change so much within the first year of life and for a car seat to provide adequate safety and support through this transition, the chair features several small inserts that can be removed as your baby’s size and strength increases to ensure they remain seated securely and supported before moving on to the next chair.
