Lockdown has been the ideal time to learn a new skill, read that book gathering dust and get round to all those jobs that creep on to the never-ending ‘to-do’ list. This is also true for the little ones in your lives with reports highlighting that key skills such as potty training, shoelace tying and riding a bike have been some of the most popular pastimes that parents have mastered with their children.
In our household we definitely ticked off riding a bike and with that comes the need for a new helmet, which is where we came across CoConuts helmets. Practical yet oh so cool, these helmet not only provide good head protection, they looks very chic with a retro design making them a definite head turner for all the right reasons.
Helmets are not just recommended for bike riding but any riskier activities where caution to head protection should be considered such as skating, scooting or skateboarding so a decent helmet is a really worthwhile investment.
The CoConuts helmet, from Hippy Chick, is available in different colours and designs. We went for the Red Stars for a little extra glam but the full range exudes fun and bright, unisex colours.
The shape covers down to the sides and lower part of the head providing a tough protection for the head with the outer shell made from a hard, durable ABS plastic and a foam lining for an additional layer of protection and added comfort.
The helmet sits flush on top of the head and can be tightened via the dial at the back for a snug and secure fit. The adjustable chinstrap with quick release also ensures it remains on tight and secure from below the head.
The ventilation ensures it remains comfortable in warmer weather with 11 air vents lined by a thin mesh dotted throughout for increased breathability.
The helmet is available in three children’s sizes all with plenty of wiggle room for longevity. The Extra Small is for head widths of 44-51cm, Small is recommended 47-53cm and the Medium is recommended for 53-58cm (approx. aged 6-16 years).
These are really smart choice for kids – lightweight, sturdy and look absolutely fab!
The CoConuts Helmet is priced £35.95 from www.hippychick.com
