Where the pancakes are

Whether you like them coated in syrup, with a side of bacon or just plain and simple, if pancakes are your thing then you need Where the Pancakes are on your radar.

The London pancake specialist has recently opened their second restaurant on Charlotte Street, Fitzrovia, and we decided to head over to see what the fuss is all about.

A lazy Sunday beckoned and Where the pancakes are is a great location to sink in all of London’s chill out vibes from your seat. It’s warm, unassuming aesthetic is abuzz with the hum of families, friends and lovers catching up over coffee, cocktails and, of course, delectable pancakes.

Large buttermilk American-style pancakes are at the core of every meal. From the sweet to the savoury, the menu compromises of the familiar but also the unfamiliar which makes it intriguing and adds a hint of fun.  On the menu, there’s an English Breakfast and breakfast really doesn’t get much better than this with a great quality full English served over a bed of pancakes washed down with a side of syrup.

Sweet taste buds won’t be disappointed either.  The exotic flavor concoction of the Hummingbird brings together a fruity blend of cinnamon poached pineapple, house cream, pomegranate, coconut and lime over a bed of fat, fluffy pancake goodness!

There’s also a small children’s menu providing a build-your-own pancake option with a range of toppings to pick and mix.

We didn’t manage to try during our visit, but on our return (and yes we will definitely be back!) there’s the oven-baked ‘All-British Dutch Babies’, more of a flat cake that looks like a Yorkshire pudding, and comes with British cheeses and variety apples. Most definitely a good excuse to return!

Where the pancakes are offers brunch, lunch and afternoon drinking in Flat Iron Square and now in Fitzrovia.  Visit www.wherethepancakesare.com for more information and to book.
