Poppies Soho

For a taste of tradition, head to Poppies Fish & Chips for a fulfilling fish supper in the heart of London.

Established as one of the best independent chippies in the UK, the restaurant is a beautiful throwback to yesteryear with a retro 50s décor sprinkled with British memorabilia for a nostalgic feel from the moment you enter the door.

The menu is filled with all the fish fayre you expect with the star of the show being the fish supper selection.  All freshly made to order, the chunky fish, cod or haddock, is fried to perfection with a honey-golden batter; while the heaped pile of chips are light and fluffy with a crisp outer for a delectable taste. Portions are generous and prices are very reasonable making it a great family win.

The kids’ menu includes Fish Bites, which may sound like small nuggets, but are in fact large tenders battered and fried that will fulfil the hungriest little tums. Fish cakes and sausage combos are also available.

If fish doesn’t take your fancy, Poppies serves up chicken dishes and a small selection of pies, but I’ll be honest and say that you’ll be missing out if you don’t opt for the fish!

Poppies has a real buzz – the décor is fun and quirky, service is quick and the staff are super attentive.  These factors alone welcome a decent crowd so it’s worth booking ahead of time to guarantee a table.

Poppies Soho is joined by sister locations in Camden and Spitalfields. For more information and to book, visit www.poppiesfishandchips.co.uk
