Nuna SWIV

Nuna’s newest design, the SWIV pushchair, is a welcome addition to the brand’s impressive lineup. The SWIV, as is probably to be expected from Nuna, is a very sleek piece of kit. Its carbon fibre-reinforced aluminium frame shouts modern elegance, while the luxe leatherette accents on the handlebar and armbar adhere to it being a stroller designed with both function and fashion in mind. But it not all style over substance; the SWIV has several features that truly are tailor-made for the demands of parenting…

The first thing that set the SWIV apart was its manoeuvrability. Thanks to its 360-degree swivel wheels, steering is effortless. The wheels’ ability to move freely in any direction make it feel less like steering and more like dancing through obstacles.

I quickly noticed how thoughtfully Nuna has engineered the pushchair’s handling. For starters, the adjustable handlebar was a game-changer for my family. As someone on the slightly shorter side, I often struggle with strollers designed for taller parents, while my husband, who’s over six feet tall, tends to hunch awkwardly over most models. The SWIV’s handlebar, with its three height settings, ensured we could both push comfortably, no adjustments or compromises necessary.

The spring suspension technology built into the seat is a great feature. On our first outing, I took the SWIV across cobblestone streets, and the ride was so smooth my daughter didn’t even stir from her nap. The stroller’s adjustable recline also makes transitions effortless. When she was ready to nap, I could tilt the seat to a near-flat position, and when she woke up curious and alert, it easily returned to an upright angle.

There’s a lot of attention to detail with this design. The extendable canopy, with its water-repellent fabric and UPF 50+ protection shields little ones from sunlight, and a flip-out eye shade and a peek-a-boo window enable parents to check on little ones without disturbance. Meanwhile, the Merino wool seat insert provides a plush, breathable surface for every season, ensuring cosiness whether it was a brisk winter morning walk or a sunny afternoon outing.

As a parent constantly on the move, convenience is king, and the SWIV delivers in spades. Its one-hand fold is collapses the stroller in seconds, even with the seat still attached. The fact that it stands on its own when folded also means there’s no issues with awkwardly leaning it against a wall. There’s even a bag included (no extra add ons here!) for transportation. And kudos to one of my absolute favourite features on any stroller – the very generous storage basket – which held everything from snacks to extra layers, a parent’s dream!

Piggybacking off the trend for blacks and greys dominating the pushchair market, Nuna has elevated these classic tones to a new level of sophistication with the SWIV. The Caviar and Granite colorways are both currently available with the Caviar, a deep and striking black, that exudes modern minimalism. Meanwhile, the Granite, a rich grey tone, offers a softer yet equally stylish alternative.

The Nuna SWIV also caters to families who travel frequently. Paired with Nuna’s PIPA car seat, via the included adapter, it transforms into a full travel system that’s as portable as it is practical.

The SWIV’s premium price is a testament to the quality, innovation, and thoughtful design that Nuna has poured into this pushchair. While it may feel like a significant investment upfront, it’s an investment that we can see will definitely pay off in the long run. The use of high-end materials, such as the carbon fibre-reinforced aluminium frame and premium fabrics, ensures the SWIV is built to last, standing up to the rigours of daily use while maintaining its sleek aesthetic.

For families with multiple children or those planning to grow their family, the SWIV’s durability and timeless design also make it a perfect option for being passed down from one sibling to the next, without compromising performance or style.

The Nuna SWIV is priced £750 and available now from Nuna Baby.
