Families looking for a fresh way to spark their children’s curiosity about science now have a new favourite addition to story time. Children’s audio platform tonies has partnered with London’s Science Museum to create a brand-new series of immersive audio adventures designed to inspire young minds, all without a single screen in sight.

The new series, Science Museum: Discovery Crew, invites children to dive into a world of scientific exploration through storytelling. Designed for use with the Toniebox audio player, the collection transforms real scientific discoveries into imaginative adventures that take young listeners from the depths of the ocean to the far reaches of space.

At the heart of the series is a group of young explorers known as the Discovery Crew. Each story begins inside the Science Museum itself before launching children on exciting missions where they learn about science, engineering and invention along the way.

Polly Evans, Content Lead UK said: “Together, we’ve created a new series of Discovery Crew audio adventures that take children from outer space to the ocean depths and back through history’s most groundbreaking scientific moments. At tonies, we believe the most powerful learning happens when children are fully immersed in a story. Partnering with the Science Museum has enabled us to turn real science into thrilling, rigorously fact-checked audio adventures that spark curiosity, creativity and confidence, all without screens. We’re incredibly proud of these new Pocket Tonies.”

Created with input from the museum’s curators, the stories weave together genuine scientific knowledge with imaginative storytelling. Children encounter famous inventors, uncover fascinating facts and explore the discoveries that have shaped the modern world, from understanding vaccines to meeting pioneering engineers working in space exploration.

The Science Museum: Discovery Crew Pocket Tonie Set includes four individual characters, each inspired by a major gallery at the museum – space, medicine, Information Age and Wonderlab.

Priced £19.99, the four-piece set is available now online at tonies.com and from the Science Museum shop.
