While Thule were once best known for their ‘jogging’ strollers, I think it’s fair to say that all-terrain market has expanded to more of the active side of things. This means lots more options for parents to select something that really fits in with their lifestyle.
The award-winning Urban Glide 2 from the Scandi brand is a fantastic all-round outdoor stroller that can be used from birth.
First thing you notice with this stroller is the three-wheel configuration. The chunky, air-filled tyres provide strong stability and perform well across all terrains we tested it on. Coupled with enhanced suspension, it makes it a dream to push and manoeuvre while ensuring a smooth ride at all paces.
The slightly smaller front swivel wheel is lockable thanks to a simple lever arch, which provides an improved ride based on the terrain for additional stability.
The Urban Glide 2 looks a solid piece of kit but actually weighs in at just over 11kg, not too bad for a stroller of this type. Well-balanced, it can take up to 34kg right the way through the longevity of a child’s pushchair needs.
The chair unit is very spacious with lots of room for growth for older children. It reclines smoothly and can be customised to you/your child’s preferred arrangement. The seat and straps are both nicely padded for comfort and the wipe clean material is a nice little touch for easy-to-clean spills.
The extendable hood provides excellent coverage and features an integrated sun visor. Fear not, the peek-a-boo mesh still provides you with good visibility of your little one at all times.
Frequently, we find some of the most distinguishable features come down to the fold feature of a pushchair. We are pleased to report that the Urban Glide’s one-handed fold is as simple as it sounds with guidance through coloured tabs to ensure it collapses correctly. As a folded unit it’s very compact (with the removal of the quick-release wheels) and the auto lock ensures it stays folded flat while not in use.
There are some nice extras on the stroller that suit parents on the go, such as the handy pockets for storing keys, phone, etc and the twist hand break that helps you to stop the pram effectively at speed.
There’s also good flex with handlebar height, something that is really important if you intend to use it more actively.
We love a decent shopping basket and this one definitely receives a thumbs up! It’s a great size for storing a change bag and extras with accessible compartments and a zip close to keep everything safe and secure.
Additional add ons can include a Thule bassinet for a lie flat option, and to make it travel system compatible, car seat adaptors can affix your desired chair for even more versatility.
Overall, a great stroller that can easily be used for every day use, from muddy walks in the park, countryside runs, or comfortably in the hum drum of a busy city. It performs incredibly well in any setting with easy pivots and swivels making it great to push while providing the necessary solidity and comfort for you and your child.
