Things are definitely hotting up in the lead up to Christmas! tonies is the latest of our faves to launch a brand new product that is set to bring smiles aplenty under the tree this year.
Small in size, big on imagination, tonies launched the new Toniebox Lite this week bringing screen-free storytelling, music and magical adventures to a whole new wave of little listeners.
If you’re a parent trying to reduce screen time without sacrificing entertainment, chances are you’ve already heard of tonies. The much-loved children’s audio system has become a firm favourite in many family homes, offering children the freedom to enjoy stories, songs and educational adventures without reaching for a tablet or television.

Now, there’s a new addition to the family, the Toniebox Lite, a smaller audio player designed specifically with younger children in mind. In essence, the Toniebox Lite delivers on everything families love about tonies in a smaller, simpler and more affordable package.
If you’re unfamiliar with tonies, the concept couldn’t be simpler. Pop a Tonie character on top of the box, and the adventure begins. No screens, complicated menus or reading required. Children can control the experience themselves by squeezing the ears to adjust the volume or tapping and tilting the box to navigate through their favourite stories.

Now onto the Toniebox Lite, its key selling point has to be its compact design. Measuring in at just 100 × 100 × 104mm, it’s small enough to fit into a child’s backpack, making it a handy companion for car journeys, holidays, sleepovers or those visits to see grandparents. The device also features offline listening so once a Tonie has been played for the first time, children can enjoy it again and again without the need for Wi-Fi, making it even handier for use when travelling.
It doesn’t have all the same features of the Toniebox 2, such as the light ring and sunrise alarm, but that’s to be expected and in keeping the design simple and utilising the best bits, it works better for a slightly younger demographic.
The minimalist grey design is a departure from the colourful look of the original Toniebox, but children can add their own personality with optional silicone covers, available in a selection of bright colours. Similarly, the hard-shell construction is still designed with everyday family life in mind, and the tactile controls make it easy for even younger children to get involved.
For parents, one particularly appealing feature is the built-in Sleep Timer. Rather than abruptly stopping a story, cleverly the Lite gradually reduces the volume before switching off automatically, which ultimately helps to create a calmer transition towards sleep.
The player offers up to six hours of battery life, charges via USB-C and supports both wired and Bluetooth headphones.
Priced at a very reasonable £59.99, the Toniebox Lite Rubie Starter Set includes the audio player and a Creative-Tonie character called Rubie. Rubie comes preloaded with Rubie’s Amazing Adventures, so children have something to enjoy straight away. Parents can also use the tonies app to add their own recordings, including personalised bedtime stories, songs and special messages.
For those of you wondering, the Toniebox Lite is also compatible with the existing tonies collection, so families who already own Tonie characters won’t need to start from scratch.
The Toniebox Lite Rubie Starter Set is available now for £59.99 from tonies.co.uk.
