Ark isn’t the first name you think of when you set about your pushchair search. Fairly new to the market, Ark is a family run British brand that is making its foray into the baby world with innovative pushchairs and accessories.
The signature Ark 3-in-1 is a multi-faceted travel system suitable for use from birth with some nifty features. It’s definitely starting to get noticed amongst its competitors, so we managed to get our hands on one to take a good look and have a play!
Aesthetics
There’s something a little fashion-forward about this design. It looks, and more importantly, feels stylish. The materials are luxurious; the matte black chassis has a clean finish and the leatherette accents add a nice flair. For eco-conscious parents, it’s definitely a cut above with safe and sustainable high-quality fabrics with chemical-free dyes and fabrics.
It is available in Coral, Mustard, Grey and Teal, but we opted for the classic Black as you can never go wrong here!
Design
The lightweight frame sits somewhere between full on travel system carnage and compact folding buggy so slap bang in the middle! For the size of the travel system it’s lighter than you expect, but strong enough to give you the confidence in its ability to withstand the rigour required for a full on toddler tantrum toddler while pushing across rolling hills.
Meanwhile, the seat is super comfy for babies and well cocooned to provide a good layer of protection from the elements. However it’s worth noting that the slightly slimmer design might pose an issue for bigger toddlers.
The Ark features a patented dual suspension that provides a really smooth ride for parent and baby. The lockable honeycomb wheels provide a unique double suspension that take on additional shock absorption to guarantee a smoother ride, meaning it’s a good all-round option and works hard to maintain a balance on rougher terrains. The inclusion of plastic wheels also mean they’re puncture-free, and the pop on/off design is a bonus that makes them easier to clean and keep lubricated for good maintenance.
The narrow design means there’s a good element of control when pushing the stroller, even if it’s with one-handed for manoeuvrability precision. The thinner frame is also beneficial when in cityscapes tackling curbs and crowded spaces with ease.
Carrycot
We love that a carrycot is included as standard with this travel system when so many charge oodles extra. The flat pack carrycot is somewhat of a key feature for us with this travel system as it really excels in so many areas.
The lie-flat carrycot is made from natural fibres with a super snuggly wool layer and cotton cover to support good quality sleep. Featuring magnetic ventilation panels and an extendable sunshade, it supports good airflow throughout with all the practicalities for every possible setup you will need.
The carrycot can also safely be used for extended periods of time, including overnight, making it a good travel option, especially with the handy temperature gauge enabling you to check the air temperate in the cocooned space.
Fold
We hear more and more about the fold of pushchairs. It’s the bugbear or saviour of so many but we are yet to see any other brands come to the table with a ‘grandparent’ proof option! However, we aren’t going to lie, the one hand fold on the Ark is impressive. Simply push down on two buttons and the auto-fold kicks into motion. The travel system can be folded with the seat in place and can self-stand for optimal storage options.
Extras
We love to discuss the shopping basket here at Inspired Family! And this one passes with flying colours – deep enough to stow away a packed change bag and the waterproof layer protects your goods from any puddle splashing.
The handy pockets throughout are great, with special mention to the pocket to the rear of the seat, which is great for storing keys, wallet or your phone with easy access.
The Ark travel system can be paired with several big name car seats. To utilise this, the add on adaptors make the system compatible with most i-Size and Group 0 car seats on the frame.
The Ark 3-in-1 Travel System is a very attractive travel system that has an added smart quality to the style. We were very impressed by the luxurious touches, innovation balanced with some nifty features commonly found in more compact strollers. It’s a great easy-to-use option that features lots of extras to suit modern-day parents.
